There are two process routes to produce a qualified grade of SAE1008, one route is to adopt the medium frequency furnace + refining furnace. This process has a high demand on the scrap, or it is hard to reach the requirements of the grade. The process investment is lower than EAF process.
The second process option is the use of electric arc furnace, it process has less limits on the scrap comparing the IF process. Because the production process of the electric arc furnace requires oxygen blowing, therefore, will increase the oxygen plant on this process route, so total investment of EAF process needs higher investment than the IF process.
